The Fall Guy 2024 Movie Review

The clock struck 5 pm on Friday afternoon the 25th of July 2024. It was the end of my workday and the start of the weekend! I grabbed my phone and browsed Google TV for an action movie to watch.  The hunger for a suspense thriller —some good action, has been gnawing on me for a while now. My eyes fell on Fall Guy and I watched the trailer. Due to obligations, I had to wait till the Sunday, but it was worth the wait! It was everything I hoped for. Finally, a goof action movie I waited for so long.

The Fall Guy 2024 Movie Review

What I did not know: The movie is based on the 1981 to 1986 TV series by the same name from Glen A. Larson.  I watched the series in Afrikaans as a young boy. For us South Africans it was called 'Die Waaghals'. (The Stuntman directly translated into English.)  Sadly, the series is no longer available in South Africa. It was mostly an era when you still got clean, awesome, and fun movies and series. This was the first thing that struck me — no profanity, or at least none I can remember. The way I like it, and probably why I enjoyed it so much.  The plot was easy to follow (nothing too complicated) with more than one twist that was not too obvious.  The stunts were amazing and the action explosive. As much as I like action in movies, I cannot stand a thin storyline with mindless butt-kicking for the sake of kicking butts. Luckily, this is not the case.  I want — no, I need a movie to capture my senses.  There is a place for drama and over-the-top artistic elements as there is a place for poetry.  I prefer my action movies to keep drama and fancy art to a minimum. Please do not show the bad guy talking as a reflection in a mirror or a TV screen standing somewhere, or build up the tension to the point that you are sure the conflict will make for a huge fight, but not give me that satisfaction. Worst of all, call it a classic stand-off between a hero and a villain. The Fall Guy had me laughing, sitting on the edge of my seat, with a taste of romance, and a satisfying end. For those who prefer seeing a list of what I thought made The Fall Guy an awesome watch, here it is:

Conclusion

If you love action movies - do not skip this one. If you like a good-feel movie - watch this. If you want to cuddle up with your spouse/boyfriend/girlfriend and want to watch something you both will enjoy - watch The Fall Guy! She will get enough out of the movie and so will you. If you are looking for a good movie to watch as a family - then watch The Fall Guy. (It is rated PG 13 as a reference)
